12- June - 08 Media & Spanish A2

by fehero3000 @ 2008-06-12 - 21:40:59

Phew, media exam and the spanish exam went alright, althought i think i found the media exam a bit too straight-forward. You know those ones where you just race through it then look at the ceiling for like 20 minutes and then race through it again? yeah.. had one of those exams :S hope i passed it tho. Right after the exam we got told to stay there, all the other candidates had already left the room, leavin me and 3 others sitting the media exam, after a quick whizz around i noticed there where several other people behind me and i quickly looked up at the board noticing there where still some history candidates who also managed to be included in the "clashes".

Anyways, after the exam we finally got let out and we where told to follow a teacher to a room, so 3 of us followed through and go to the room chatted for a bit and a few minutes later the other candidate got there too. it was already nearly 12:30 and we said that we where hungry, however they said that we wherent allowed to go to the common room (where we had previously left our bags), but we said that we needed to go and get money (i carry a pack-lunch but didnt want to go through the embarresment of calling it out, so i went along with the money idea). So anyway to cut a long story short we got our lunch and came back to the room near the LRC (Learning Resources Centre, more commonly known as the Library!!) where we sat on the tables and started munchin on some food. By 1:10 we where finished and already talking about our next exam, dreaded spanish, although i fluently speak it, its a 2:45hr exam!! way too long in my opinion, by 1:28 we where outside the door that would keep us captive for the next 3 or so hours...

Spanish was ok although i ended up finished the exam like a good 30 mins early and dedicated that time to thouroughly going through each question, doing them 2 or 3 times over and checking not only my spelling but also my punctuation and use of language, on some of the questions you can be awarded an extra 5 points depending on how good your language is and how natural it sounds. Easy for a fluent speaker? i dont think so!. Yeah- sure the thinking of the language and ideas are easy but when it comes to putting them into context and in an exam format it becomes elongated.
In the spanish exam i came across a strange word: "subestimamos" at first glance i was discombobulated by it, however after some careful disecting and cutting the word into the 2 useful forms 'sub' and 'estimamos' (verb: 'estimar') i soon came across its meaning. 'Estimar' meaning to 'estimate' and 'sub' latin for 'under' gave me what i needed, to 'underestimate'. Easy eh? not at first glance it wasnt!
